  16.     I earlier wasted some net space regarding the Amiga and ST versions
  17. of WordPerfect in which I said that the Amiga version did not support
  18. pull down menus and accessories.
  19.     My source of information for the Amiga version was from an Amigoid
  20. who, I'd guess (a no no for such discussions), probably does not like
  21. WordPerfect for the Amiga, and probably doesn't like it for any other
  22. system, for that matter.  Anyway, the Amiga version has pull down
  23. menus and key equivalent commands, just like the Mac and ST.
  24.     Regarding accessories for the Mac and ST on WordPerfect as compared
  25. to the multi-tasking environment for the Amiga and to a lesser extent,
  26. the Mac via Multi-Finder.....  Accessories may or may not be
  27. multi-tasking, depending upon their function.  They may freeze the host
  28. program from running or may not freeze it.  This applies for both the
  29. Mac and the ST.
  30.     Of course the Amiga system can run another program, such as a
  31. spreadsheet, while in WordPerfect, but this is not the same as
  32. the 'handy' collection of accessories located in one convenient
  33. area of the menu bar.  Of course we STers would love to be able to
  34. run the spreadsheet at the same time as WordPerfect without either
  35. program freezing, but that just is not the TOS way, no matter how
  36. we massage everything via Revolver or the other switchers.
  37.     Anyway, before more misconceptions come from this end, WordPerfect
  38. for any system, including the ST and the Amiga, is an excellent
  39. product from an excellent company.  Join the Revolution...if you have
  40. WordPerfect, support it!  WordPerfect will certainly support you.

  104. I have seen several requests for information about memory upgrades, I
  105. thought I would share this with y'all.  I received some neato junkmail
  106. about a month ago from an outfit in Texas called Tech Specialties.  As
  107. far as I can tell, they are an ST only group, and they print a damn nice
  108. catalog.  Offered within are:
  109.  
  110.         1.  Various memory upgrades, seperated by different versions of
  111.             ST models.
  112.         2.  Clocks.
  113.         3.  HD kits, in tower, monitor stand, and desktop style cases.
  114.         4.  CPU cases, in various formats.
  115.         5.  Misc. stuff, including a drop in upgrade for the Megafile HDs,
  116.             SCSI adapter, floppys, and extended Keyboard cables of various
  117.             lengths.
  118.  
  119.  In refference to number 4, these guys are offering an upgrade to 1040's and
  120. 520's in which you can get the motherboard and drive put into a METAL case,
  121. similar in size to the Mega's (with more room for expansion), and put the
  122. keyboard into another case, and connect the two, thus having a sexy two
  123. piece computer (an alternative to getting a Mega, if you are so inclined).
  124. The keyboard case is roughly the same size as a Mega's, and uses the
  125. original keyboard from the 1040/520.  Pretty neat!

  127. Another thing I liked was the info printed within the catalog.  They did a
  128. good job explaining why they designed there stuff the way they did, and I
  129. learned quite a bit about both memory boards and HD's from it.  There

  170. I was not aware that ST TERM had been released into the Public Domain.
  171. As a FoReM ST SysOp, I do know that ST TERM comes ONLY on the FoReM
  172. disk.  It is intended to be run from inside of FoReM by the SysOp.

  174. Last I heard, it was NOT Public Domain, but was not commercial either.
  175. I'll check with the other FoReM SysOps I know and see what they say.

  193. Is there any chance any of you would know of a TCP/IP program with
  194. Telnet and FTP for the ST. I would prefer that it communicate out the
  195. serial port to a modem using SLIP.

  217.   I do this all the time. SE/30->Atari and back. I do have to preformat
  218.   the disks in DOS format before hand. In this way both the MAC and ST
  219.   can read/write the disks. I think that there might be a couple of
  220.   public domain programs that will format the Atari disks with the DOS
  221.   directory structure.
